On the week of September 26th-30th, GMN Aerospace conducted a Value Stream Team (VST) event that was focused on our customer service department. In the past, we have held several VST events to improve our production processes, but this was the first time we have had one focused on the office and administration side. Our goal was to make every step of the customer service process more efficient and reduce our overall processing time for large orders by 50%.
On September 14th, Paul Michaels, GMN Aerospace Corporate Director, attended the 2016 Engineering Lean & Six Sigma Conference in San Antonio hosted by the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers. This conference was an opportunity for GMN Aerospace to learn about the latest and most efficient ways to eliminate waste and improve quality within an organization.
Due to our Lean Manufacturing initiative and dedication to continuous improvement, GMN Aerospace continually strives to enhance and refine our processes in order to increase efficiency, performance, and customer satisfaction. In recent months, GMN Aerospace has been involved in several Value Stream Team (VST) events concerning our manufacturing processes. During these VST workshops, we take a look at our current process in a certain area and create a plan on how to make it better.
2014 was an eventful year for GMN Aerospace. We celebrated our 60th anniversary, welcomed new members to our team, as well as expanded our machinery and capabilities. As we celebrate the New Year, let’s review what a great year 2014 was at GMN Aerospace!
New look of GMN Aerospace
We kicked off the new year releasing a new look and website for GMN Aerospace. The website was redone to be easier to navigate and better reflect GMN Aerospace’s value proposition. In addition, it features better design, new photos, and improved content.

Recently the Puget Sound Business Journal published an article discussing The Boeing Company’s supplier-cost-cutting program and its significance for Boeing’s future. The article reference the company’s Partnering for Success program and how it’s for The Boeing Company to maintain tighter growing cost objectives for overall aircraft manufacturing.
Affordability through Collaboration has been a theme for our GMN Aerospace team this past fiscal year. Our work and focus on continuous improvement was not only recognized by our customers, but also by our peers of the Pacific Northwest Aerospace Alliance.
SEATTLE, WA – February 25, 2013 – GM Nameplate, parent to GMN Aerospace, announces staffing changes within the company’s quality department.
Martin Espinola, the current Director of Quality for the Seattle, Washington Division of GM Nameplate has been promoted to Corporate Director of Quality and Regulatory Affairs. Michael Wodrich has been hired as the new Director of Quality for the Seattle Division. In addition, three members of the quality team have recently completed their Six Sigma Black Belt exams.
