2014 was an eventful year for GMN Aerospace. We celebrated our 60th anniversary, welcomed new members to our team, as well as expanded our machinery and capabilities. As we celebrate the New Year, let’s review what a great year 2014 was at GMN Aerospace!
New look of GMN Aerospace
We kicked off the new year releasing a new look and website for GMN Aerospace. The website was redone to be easier to navigate and better reflect GMN Aerospace’s value proposition. In addition, it features better design, new photos, and improved content.
Paul Michaels’ presentation at PNAA
In February, Director of GMN Aerospace, Paul Michaels, presented at the Pacific Northwest Aerospace Alliance (PNAA) 2014 Aerospace Conference. Paul’s presentation discussed evolving demands of Aerospace customers and how GMN Aerospace has worked to meet those growing needs.
Customer service continuous improvement training
Throughout the year the GMN Aerospace team has been focused on improving our customer service experience. In February we began a customer service training course to further build our customer service skills. The training focused on various skills and techniques to provide excellent service to both external and internal customers, including the benefits of active listening and strong introductions. The training was a valuable experience for our whole team and we hope it will continue to benefit our organization and our customers!
One of the first aerospace capabilities we offered was metal photo. Early in the year we acquired and qualified a computer to plate (CTP) machine for our metal photo department. The new equipment allows us to eliminate the need for creating film in the metal photo process, reducing cycle times and streamlining our manufacturing. We delivered the first parts from the new CTP machine in April.
6th consecutive Boeing Performance Excellence Award
Last May we announced that we were honored with our 6th consecutive Boeing Performance Excellence Award from The Boeing Company. Michael Epplin, senior manager from The Boeing Company presented the award to Joaquin Ivarra, GMN’s electroplating lead. Our partnership with Boeing has been integral to our work and growth at GMN Aerospace. This was the 9th award we’ve received from The Boeing Company and we are proud to continue to support the organization.
60 year anniversary
May was the 60 year anniversary of GM Nameplate. The aerospace industry has been an integral part of GMN’s history and today it continues to be one of the largest industries we serve. Throughout the year GMN has been celebrating the milestone by recognizing our GMN Heroes, the many faced behind our products.
In July, we launched our first branded product, M2TYCOAT™, specifically designed for exterior aircraft color graphics and mandatory markers. Our M2TYCOAT offers a unique advantage over competitors’ processes as it addresses time flow issues caused by outgassing cycles, while allowing for better adhesion and durability. The product was also added to the Boeing process specification BAC 5316 “Manufacture of Markers and Placards” Qualified Processors List (QPL).
Exterior graphics projects
In the fall we featured a number of recent exterior graphics projects. Thanks to support from our superGraphics division, we have significant experience producing and installing custom exterior graphics and liveries. We featured a slideshare of photos of our recent work as well as two blogs on some of our latest exterior graphic projects – for the Taylor Swift music tour and Solaire Resort and Casino.
Overall, 2014 was a great year for GMN Aerospace. We had a lot to celebrate at the end of the year and are already looking forward to what will come in 2015!
