Highlights of 2013 at GMN Aerospace

2013 Highlights

2013 was a great year for GMN Aerospace. We had some very exciting milestones and events. As we look ahead to the next year, let’s look back on everything that happened in the last year.

Plastics Boeing Qualified Processors List (QPL) – In 2012, our plastics division, Elite Plastics, received AS9100C quality system certification. Shortly after, we were added to the Boeing QPL the injection molding of the thermoplastics parts.

Paul Michaels gives presentation of Affordability through Collaboration – At the start of the year Paul Michaels, director of GMN Aerospace, presented to Operations Management students at Everett Community College. The presentation discussed our own value stream efforts and what continuous improvement means as an aerospace supplier.

Boeing Performance Excellence Award – Last summer we announced that we received our fifth consecutive Boeing Performance Excellence Award. The Boeing Performance Excellence Award is issued annually to Boeing suppliers who achieve superior performance.

Boeing Readiness Assessment – In the fall we completed our Boeing readiness assessment and received a 100% rating on production readiness. It’s important that we are able to maintain growing production rates to support all of our customers’ needs.

Best in Class Collaboration – In April, GMN Aerospace was recognized by leadership from Boeing Emergent Operations as a benchmark in “Best in Class” collaboration, and in setting the benchmark for revolutionary customer engagement. We are looking forward to more collaboration in the next 12 months!

GMN Aerospace in the “Puget Sound Business Journal” – In October, GMN Aerospace Vice President, Carlo Mears, was quoted in an article about Boeing’s supplier partnerships. GMN Aerospace was heralded by the Boeing team as an example of a successful partnership.

“Aircraft Interiors International” Annual Showcase – In November “Aircraft Interiors International’s” Annual Showcase issue was released, including a three page editorial on GMN Aerospace’s value-streaming efforts. The article can be viewed on their website or in the print edition.

New Metal Photo Equipment – At the end of the year we acquired a new Computer to Plate (CTP) machine for our metal photo department. We will be posting about the benefits of this new equipment soon!

Delivery of 15 Millionth BAC Part – In December we celebrated the delivery of our 15 millionth Boeing Aircraft Company part. Thanks to our strong collaboration and partnership with The Boeing Company, we were very excited to reach and commemorate this milestone.

The past year was very eventful for GMN Aerospace. We have a lot to look forward to in 2014 – stay tuned for a sneak peak of what’s coming up for us in 2014.
