It’s not every day that we get invited to be the guest of two great leaders but that was the case last month for the Fly-in for the Export Import Bank. We were extended an invitation to be the guest of Dennis Muilenburg, vice chairman, president and COO at The Boeing Company, and Jeff Immelt, chairman and CEO at GE, in Washington D.C. to support the Ex-Im bank.
While attending the Fly-in for the Ex-Im bank we were given the honor to meet Members of Congress and the Senate to discuss the importance of the Export Import Bank for businesses in America. Wednesday, February 25th, was spent meeting with Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell along with Washington Congressmen Jim McDermott, Dave Reichert, and Adam Smith discussing the integral role the Ex-Im Bank plays in supporting jobs and GMN Aerospace’s business.
It was exciting to share the story of not only how we have been able to grow as a company, but also the growth that we have had with our customers. We shared how we are able to provide good paying manufacturing jobs in the City of Seattle as well as in our other plants across the country.
At the Fly-in we were not only representing GMN, but the hundreds of suppliers and customers of GMN that also offer good paying manufacturing jobs in their respective communities. Today our customers must compete in a global economy where competitive international financing is key in ensuring that our customers can remain competitive. Securing a long-reauthorization of the Export-Import bank is integral for many businesses and jobs across the country.
