One limitation of standard touch screens—the ability to accept only one input at a time—has been answered by GM Nameplate’s recent development of a multi-zoned touch screen. A standard touch screen accepts one input at a time and attempts to touch several screen areas at once cancels out each touch by calculating an average to determine a single input location. The multi-zone 5-wire touch screen by GM Nameplate allows for up to four input zones on a single touch screen, and all four touches may occur simultaneously leading to four distinct inputs.
