Steel Rule Dies
Class A Male-Female Dies
CNC Turret Punch Press Tooling
Class “A” punch press dies are made using ASI type A2 or D2 tool steels, depending on tooling requirements. These tools are built with precisely fitted strippers, interchangeable die inserts, backburn effects to minimize burrs, and exacting clearances. Use of Class “A” die as opposed to a steel rule die, is often decided by increased accuracy requirements, extremely long die life or automatic stripping

Standard tolerances are +/- .005” on hole size, hole-to-hole and hole-to-edge dimensions. Hole size and hole-to-hole tolerances can be held as high as +/- .0005” if needed, at substantially higher cost. Copy location in relationship to any die cut feature or part edge normally is +/- .010” but can be as close as +/-.0005” at much higher cost.

Punch press tooling is generally guaranteed for a minimum of 1,000,000 impressions. Given the care we provide, this type of “hard tooling” will usually last the life of your product. GM Nameplate builds all of its own Class “A” tools
