GM Nameplate Expands Asian Operations, Opens New Manufacturing Plant in China

GM Nameplate announced today the opening of their new facility in the southern province of Guangdong, China. This manufacturing plant, in the Wanjiang district of Dongguan city will initially produce flexo-printed labels and die cut components.


Expansion plans include adding screen printing and nameplate production capabilities.

With the addition of this division, GM Nameplate enhances its value as a supplier to multi-national OEMs. GM Nameplate provides its customers a wide range of manufacturing services including front-end design support for prototypes and production manufacturing in its U.S. facilities. Now, when appropriate, GM Nameplate will manage a seamless transfer of projects to their company-owned and managed China-based manufacturing solution, providing finished components in close proximity to customers with facilities located in Asia.

The number of GM Nameplate customers opening operations in China has increased significantly in recent years. Don Root, GM Nameplate CEO, stated, “We can best support our customers with Asia based operations by locating our own integrated facility in China.”

This new capability enables divisions in North America and Singapore to start complex production jobs (membrane switch production, encoder fabrication and intricate screen print work) before transferring materials to the China facility, if additional assembly or labor intensive finishing operations at an Asia-based facility best matches customer requirements.

Both the regional and central governments in China granted final approval of business and operating licenses necessary for plant operations. Root stated, “Our China division is an extension of our U.S. based capabilities. Opening this facility is the logical continuation of our customer focus. By following our customers to China, we are able to leverage the individual expertise of all our divisions to provide the best value for our customers in the U.S. and abroad .”
